Whistler is a world famous beautiful snow and summer resort. It is located in British Columbia Canada; it is about 25 miles from Pacific Coast and 70 miles north of Vancouver. Tourists from all over the world visit Whistler both during winter and summer. Two mountains are situated in Whistler adds to the scenic view of the landscape. Whistler has about 10000 residents. During tourist season the population soars to 50000. Just in last 25 years Whistler has grown to famous tourist spot of world. Average snowfall in Whistler is about 33 ft. Lift services are available to the 1-mile vertical Black Comb Mountains (largest terrain of ski area in North America). Whistler provides the large Alpine bowls, tree runs, groomed runs. Whistler has plenty accommodations to welcome the visitor during peak season.

Keystone Snow Report

            Whistler provides mountain biking opportunity, the growing popular sport of the world, in its spectacular mountain landscape downhill and cross-country. This along with 3 international famous golf courses, good weather, hiking, and fishing has made Whistler a summer heaven for the tourists. 

            Snow skiing though very popular and attractive winter sports worldwide it is very risky. The weather is very unpredictable. The vigorous snowing and avalanche can happen in a very short time. Ski winter resorts without excellent forecasting and current snow report may become a deathbed of many skiers. There are many local and international snow forecasters that provide snow reports of worldwide resorts 24 hours a day. For critical conditions like avalanche and sudden snow fall immediate warnings are posted and sirens are activated to get immediate attentions of all skiers nearby and far. Rescue and emergency crews and facilities are in alert during critical times.

            Ski Club of Great Britain (IGLU SKI) provides snow reports for North America and Europe Ski resorts. Whistler has local official and unofficial sources that provide snow reports. Here is the sequence of events at Whistler weather and snow reporting:

            . 6 am update of report on snow phone and snow web page for people that go for snowing in the morning. Groomers in the mountain scan the 8171 acres of mountain and provide data to be reported at 6 am.

            . 7:30 am update is as per avalanche report from Pig Alley weather station located at 5445 feet elevation on Whistler Mountain. The report includes wind speed, temperature and visibility of different zones. Forecasters are very concerned about the accurate avalanche forecast so that skier going for the skiing doesn't get surprise.

            . Most of skiers head for the mountain at about 9/9:30am. An update of snow phone and web page is done at 9p.m.

            . Other updates are done at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
